LAREDO, Texas — A man was arrested after being allegedly connected through an investigation to a case involving two missing individuals that haven't had contact with their family since 2022.
According to the Leon County Sheriff's Office, they were notified on June 19, 2024 of a missing person and child that were entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as missing persons that hadn't been seen or heard from by their family since July of 2022.
An investigation began into their disappearance, and over four months later, new information about the case came to light.
On Oct. 22, 2024, the Criminal Investigation Division of the Leon County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant in Buffalo and discovered human remains. What was found was sent to The Center for Human Identification at The University of North Texas in Fort Worth to be examined and positively identified.
As the investigation continued, authorities were able to identify a possible suspect connected to the disappearance of the missing person and child.
On Tuesday, Nov. 12, authorities took Michael Dean Davis Jr into custody in Laredo for his alleged connection to the disappearance of the missing person and child. He currently is in the Webb County Jail on a murder charge and is being held on a $3 million bond.
The sheriff's office says an investigation into the case is still ongoing and have not released any further information about the case.
