BRYAN, Texas — A man has been sentenced to nine and a half years in prison for burglary, prostitution promotion, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to a release from the Brazos County District Attorney.
The charges stem from a report that was made to College Station Police on Nov. 18, 2021 by a former roommate of Henry Franklin, the man who was sentenced, had told police that during a verbal argument Franklin had cut him with a knife.
It was later revealed in an investigation with the victim that came forward that Franklin had continued to send threatening text messages after the encounter had taken place.
He was later incarcerated on charges including the assault as well as a burglary charge that occurred at a local car wash on Sept. 3, 2021. Bryan Police and detectives were able to discover that Franklin had committed the crime after a review of surveillance footage.
While Franklin was in jail, authorities discovered that he had also written letters encouraging a young woman that Franklin had previously dated to engage in prostitution to gather funds to pay his bond to get out of jail.
"This defendant tried to avoid the consequences of his actions by using violence and manipulation against his victims. But the work of all of our law enforcement agencies made it possible to hold him accountable and see that justice was served," said Assistant District Attorney Tonika Davis in a press release.
