SHIRO, Texas — Two people are recovering in stable condition after being attacked by a man with a machete in Shiro on Sunday night, according to the Grimes County Sheriff's Office.
When officers arrived, they found a man and woman with "severe lacerations", police said. Both victims are in stable condition and are recovering.
The man who attacked the victims is being identified as Elpidio De Leon Gonzalez, who was arrested later that night in Corpus Christi. Police say that Gonzalez had been in a relationship with the female victim in the past.
Gonzalez is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
