NAVASOTA, Texas — Two men from outside the Brazos Valley were arrested for an incident that took place on Saturday, June 1, according to Navasota Police.

That morning, around 7:05 a.m., a call was made to police about shots fired at a convenience store in the 8700 block of Highway 6. When officers arrived, they quickly placed Joshua Land, 29, of Waller, in custody and charged him with deadly conduct, possession of marijuana, disorderly conduct, and animal cruelty after a dog was found dead in the parking lot.

Police say investigators are working on determining the reason behind the shooting and killing of the dog.
