NAVASOTA, Texas — Navasota Police are investigating a shooting that took place early in the morning on Friday, July 26.
Around 5:30 a.m., a shots fired report came in to police in the 600 block of FM 1227. An injured juvenile was also reported alongside the shots fired call.
When officers arrived where the call was made, they found a juvenile female that was living in the area had been hit by a stray bullet. The female was taken to a hospital in Bryan with minor injuries.
Further investigation into the shooting revealed that it started around 700 Doris Street. Police say multiple cars and an apartment wall were damaged from the gunshots.
Police say they've closed a few roads near the crime scene to retrieve evidence. The roads include part of FM 1227, Washington Avenue, and FM 379. FM 1227 and FM 379 are closed to prevent 18-wheeler traffic, police say.
Authorities say they haven't identified any suspects but are asking anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Navasota Police Criminal Investigations Division at 936-825-6410 or Grimes County Crimestoppers at 936-873-2000.
