MADISON COUNTY, Texas — A man will serve two decades in prison for an aggravated robbery that took place at the beginning of the year.
According to the Madison County District Attorney's Office, Jeramie Garrett was arrested on Jan. 1, 2024 by Madisonville Police Department officers after ambushing a cashier that worked at a store, forcing her to go in at gunpoint and unlock the cash register so he could steal what was inside.
Although Garrett took off after he stole the money, he was arrested and taken into custody a short while after the robbery.
On April 15, Garrett pled guilty to an Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon charge and received his sentence from 12th District Court Judge David Moorman based on a plea agreement with District Attorney Courtney Cain.
"Committing robbery with a deadly weapon is a ticket to prison in Madison County!" Cain said in a press release. "Prosecuting violent crimes in a priority for the Madison County District Attorney's Office."
