BEDIAS, Grimes County — The Grimes County Sheriff's Office has reported that a man was arrested on Saturday after a nearly four-hour long negotiation between him and authorities in Bedias.

That day, around 11:25 a.m., authorities investigated a call about a welfare concern in the 1500 block of Stone Street. When they arrived, they found Mark Anthony Regino barricaded a firearm and children in a house. Authorities attempted to get him to release the children at first, but were unsuccessful.

More resources from other agencies were requested, and after multiple hours, Regino was taken into custody without incident shortly after 3 p.m. The Brazos County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, Texas Department of Public Safety Hostage Negotiation Team, and Texas Rangers assisted with the situation.

Regino has been charged with two counts of Unlawful Restraint of a child under the age of 17 and exposing them to substantial risk of serious bodily injury. The charges are third-degree felonies.

The Grimes County Sheriff's Office says they are continuing an investigation into the matter.
