Man found hiding underneath car after crashing motorcycle in Grimes County high-speed pursuit

The high-speed chase took place around 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4 in the Plantersville area.

PLANTERSVILLE, Grimes County — An early morning high-speed chase in Grimes County involving two suspects ended in one being taken to the hospital for injuries and another being found underneath a car trying to get away from authorities.

According to the Grimes County Sheriff's Office, around 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, a sheriff's deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle that had a male driver and female passenger that were speeding on County Road 202 going into the Pinebrook Subdivision in Plantersville, but they took off. As officers gave chase, they recorded the motorcycle's speed reaching 100 mph in the subdivision before taking to Highway 249 towards Montgomery County.

On Highway 249, the driver continued to try to get away from police at dangerous speeds, at one point reaching over 130 mph. Eventually, the chase came to a subdivision at Zion Lane and Antonia Drive, but the driver lost control of the motorcycle at the intersection and crashed. The male driver fled on foot, leaving the female passenger pinned underneath the motorcycle.

Officers eventually found James Don George, the man that fled after the crash, hiding underneath a car. He had a warrant out for his arrest from Texas Pardon and Parole for a felony drug offense. In addition to the warrant, George had tossed a bag of suspected methamphetamine away before he was arrested, which the officers were able to find.

The female that was injured in the crash was taken to a hospital in The Woodlands for significant leg injuries. She had warrants out for arrest for drug related crimes, according to the sheriff's office. The motorcycle that was involved in the pursuit had also been reported stolen by the Conroe Police Department.

In total, George was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle with Previous Convictions, Evading Arrest or Detention with Previous Convictions, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Tampering/Fabricating Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair, Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 in an amount between 1 gram and 4 grams, and for a Parole Violation.
