BRYAN, Texas — A stabbing that took place on Feb. 19, 2022 has now landed a man a 40-year prison sentence, according to the Brazos County District Attorney's Office.
That day, College Station Police learned that two people had been stabbed in the chest area at a bar by a man, and began to investigate what had happened. Fortunately, those who were stabbed were helped by Baylor Scott & White medical personnel and had their lives saved.
Multiple people who were at the bar at the time that Frank Hernandez III, 45, had stabbed the two individuals, had gotten cell phone video of what happened.
The argument began verbally between Hernandez's brother and another person, and got physical once both had gotten outside the bar. According to the District Attorney's Office, cell phone video later showed Frank stabbing two people, with his brother beating up another, later threatening those that saw what he had done in an attempt to get those calling 911 to drop the calls.
Frank later fled the area, but found himself in trouble with the law once again. Bexar County deputies arrested Hernandez after driving the wrong way on the highway, and even found him to be in possession of cocaine.
Hernandez was sentenced on Friday following a verdict from a jury earlier in the week, on Tuesday. His brother also has pending charges related to the stabbing, according to the DA.
"When violence is the way a defendant deals with the world, prison is the only place for them," said Assistant District Attorneys Jessica Escue, Gretchen Helmuth, and Brian Baker in a press release. "The defendant is finally where he cannot hurt any more members of our community."
