Former A&M football player receives robbery sentence

BRYAN, Texas - Former Texas A&M football player Isaiah Golden is heading to prison after pleading guilty to three counts of robbery.

In 2014, Golden and another former Texas A&M football player, Darian Claiborne, were accused of robbing three men at gunpoint in a drug deal gone wrong.

According to the police report, Golden and Claiborne went to buy marijuana, but instead robbed the men. When one of the men in the apartment stood up, he was hit by the man carrying the gun in the face.

With Golden's guilty plea, he received a sentence of ten years in prison, but could be released after 120 days if a judge feels that the punishment was enough. Golden will also pay a $1,500 fine and testify against his co-defendant, Claiborne.

Claiborne is facing three counts of aggravated robbery, and was released after posting a $130,000 bond.
