BEDIAS, Grimes County — A man was arrested by a Grimes County Sheriff's Office deputy for drug-related charges and tampering with evidence on Dec. 30.

That day around 5:17 p.m. south of Bedias, Ronnie Dewain Zephyn was driving a minivan on State Highway 90 and failed to yield to traffic as it exited FM 39. A Grimes County Sheriff's Office deputy began following Zephyn and saw him commit a number of other traffic violations while on the road.

The deputy later caught up to him when he had stopped at a private driveway off of SH 90 south. According to the Grimes County Sheriff's Office, Zephyn was known to not have a driver's license.

A search was eventually done of his car, and methamphetamine was found on the driver's seat and in multiple small bags, including one that was tossed out of the window that the deputy discovered after reviewing footage from his car's dashcam. The total amount of drugs that were seized totaled 16.42 grams.

Zephyn was charged with two felony offenses, including tampering with evidence with intent to impair, drug possession charges, and Class C offenses.
