Chappell Hill man indicted in April 12 crash at Brenham DPS building

Some of Clenard Parker's charges include Capital Murder, Criminal Mischief, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

BRENHAM, Texas — Editor's Note: The attached video aired on April 13.

The man responsible for driving a big rig into the Texas Department of Public Safety building in Brenham has been indicted by a Grand Jury on multiple charges.

Clenard Parker, 41, of Chappell Hill, currently remains in custody in the Washington County Jail for hijacking and crashing a big rig into the DPS office. The April 12 incident resulted in the death of two and injured over a dozen other victims.

Parker was indicted on the following charges:

  • Two counts of Capital Murder
  • Three counts of Aggravated Assault
  • Evading Arrest
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle

In addition to Parker's indictment, the District Attorney's Office has hired Lisa Tanner as a Special Prosecutor to assist with the case. She has extensive experience in handling Capital Murders across the state and previously worked for the Brazos County District Attorney's Office. 

Tanner also served as the Chief of the Major Offenders and Violent Crimes Section at the Attorney General's Office before starting her own practice helping other prosecutors in small offices handle high-profile homicides.
