BRYAN, Texas — Law enforcement arrested a suspect accused of shooting a Bryan police officer late Thursday night and a Brazos County Sheriff's Deputy during the manhunt. Bryan Police Department say 44-year-old Joshua Ryan Herrin of Bryan is in custody as of Friday at 2:38pm.
Thursday night around 11:21 pm, the department says an officer attempted to stop a car during a traffic stop in the area of Wayside Drive and Avondale Avenue. The suspect continued to drive and then eventually got out of the car and ran off on foot, according to police.
The officer began chasing the suspect and the suspect shot multiple times at the officer but the officer did not return gunfire, according to Bryan Police.
The suspect then stole the officer's patrol car, according to police. The patrol car was later found in the 2000 block of Fountain Avenue without the suspect.
The unidentified officer, according to police, was taken to St. Joseph's hospital where they are reportedly in stable condition.
During the manhunt for the suspect Friday afternoon, Bryan Police say a Brazos County Sheriff's deputy spotted the car and began a chase. The suspect shot the deputy while driving, according to Bryan Police. The deputy is in stable condition.
According to Bryan Police, Herrin was last seen driving an orange 2004 Mustang with a Texas License plate RMH3615. Police also say the Mustang without the front grill and headlights.
