PLANTERSVILLE, Grimes County — An attempt to sneak drugs through Grimes County has ended in the arrest of one man, according to the Grimes County Sheriff's Office.
On Friday, shortly after 7 p.m., a silver Ford Fusion was stopped by an officer near the Imhoff's Grocery Store in Plantersville because the back license plate wasn't readable, and had an expired registration.
The K9 Unit of the Todd Mission Police Department later assisted the officer that had stopped Billy Clay Boutwell--the driver of the car--and had K9 Zeyva check if there were any drugs around. A digital scale was found where Boutwell was sitting in the car, and after a more in-depth search, found a baggie with a "white crystallized substance" in his ballcap.
Boutwell was taken into custody and charged with the Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1.
