MADISON COUNTY, Texas — A Madison County Sheriff's Office Corporal and K-9 dog made a big drug bust on Thursday.

At the 148 mile marker off of I-45, a traffic stop was initiated by an officer, and K-9 Maverick alerted the officer to drugs being in the car after a free air sniff. The two individuals in the car were arrested, and over 11 pounds of methamphetamines were discovered.

One of the individuals arrested was the passenger, 51-year-old Sabino Garcia-Perez. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance alongside the driver, who gave the officer a fake identity. The fake name given to the officer was not revealed.

The sheriff's office says the driver's true identity, alongside further charges, are pending.
