Vintage Shops popping up in Bryan-College Station

The Vintage Circle has been in the BCS area for roughly three years. Now, they're receiving new competitors who've just opened as recently as the past week.

BRYAN, Texas — The Vintage Circle has been in the Bryan-College Station community for the past three years. They've provided everything from vintage clothes, furniture, pictures, and many other items.

Roxanne Rangel and her husband took over the business roughly a year ago and have continued to maintain and ensure its success. Rangel said the essential difference between vintage stores, like theirs, and thrift stores is that vintage stores curate pieces to sell whereas thrift stores receive the majority of their items through donations.

The Co-owner also shared that there's a lot of work that goes into finding the right pieces to sell.

“We were driving to Austin, Houston, all over to shop for vintage stuff because there wasn’t anything here," said Rangel.

Rangel said the reason a lot more people are shopping vintage pieces is because of the quality and cost of the prices that they provide to their customers.

“You get a quality piece, it’s going to last you longer, it’s a better price, you’re going to get more use out of it and you get something unique," said Rangel.

More recently, several other shops have opened in Bryan-College Station that have catered to the vintage-loving crowd. However, Rangel said the reason why there is so much more competition that has started to pop up is because of the customer base of college-aged students in the area.

“Our students live in bigger cities and they’re coming here to look for stuff so there’s just a need for it," said Rangel.
