VFW gets a new paint job for free thanks to local business

The 75-year-old building will get a makeover donated by a local paint company to revamp their appeal to veterans.

BRYAN, Texas — The 75-year-old VFW Post 4692 will be receiving the makeover of a lifetime all thanks to a local business's initiative.

Bryan local Cody Meece decided it was time for the building to return to its vibrant original colors and has donated his company’s services to give it a fresh coat of paint.

“I’ve been coming to events for 10 years here at the VFW and for the past eight to nine years I’ve been wanting to give this place a facelift,” Meece, Project Manager of That 1 Painter BCS, said.

The VFW has helped veterans find their place in the community for decades, and now this business is giving back.

Incoming Post Commander, Leo Rivera said of Meece's initiative, “We were in the process of gathering funding to get a company to come and paint it and he dropped by and said through my company I can do a pay it forward job for you guys and you won't have to spend that money on the paint.”

The paint job would have been more than $4,000 for the post, but with help from Meece’s paint business and community donations, all costs have been covered to restore the historic building.

“We wanted to bring the curb appeal back to the VFW the charity events that we’ve thrown here for the fire fighter groups, the fallen rider’s organization and even my own historical club and it's the least I could do to give back to some place that’s been able to provide a place for us to be able to throw events like this,” Meece reflected.
