With the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program coming to an end, the organization is still looking for donations

The organization's original deadline to wrap up the program was Dec. 8, but that date was extended so kids can still receive presents this Christmas.

BRYAN, Texas — When the Salvation Army started their Angel Tree Program, they were looking for 2,200 angels to be adopted.

Now, with less than a week left until their redistribution date, they’re looking for your help with monetary donations for the last few kids to make it a good Christmas for those that have very little.

Co-Captain of the Salvation Army BCS, Marianne Villanueva explained how the need for donations has progressed recently.

“When we started making the call for the community it was 600 (needed donations), then it was 400 and 300 and today its 100, so we’re ready to go and if people still want to donate for us the salvationarmybcs.org they can go there and donate money to an angel,” he said.

Their original deadline for these gifts was Dec. 8, but when they weren’t receiving the presents in time, the Salvation Army decided to push the deadline back and are now asking for monetary donations to get the 100 presents in on time and reach their goal.

"It might be easier for the donor to donate money because we’re able to go shopping for those angels if you write a check or donate online and its not like you have to buy every single thing on the list for the angel its just what you can do,” said Salvation Army employee, Caroline Brummer.

Volunteers know how much these gifts mean to kids looking for some wonder under their Christmas trees this year.

"So, I personally have a younger sister, she’s nine, and I know she’d love to see all these presents and stuff so I’m sure the kids receiving these gifts are gonna be really excited,” said Volunteer and Texas A&M student, Vincent Ribeiro.

The redistribution dates will be Dec. 19-20. at Gold's Gym in Bryan.
