BRYAN, Texas — Throughout the year, The Salvation Army helps families with rent, clothing, and food assistance, but now they are asking the community to donate personal hygiene products.
They are looking for everything from shampoo, body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and laundry detergent.
“We know those are pretty expensive that this moment so those are things we have been getting a lot of requests from the community, so we want to help families that are in dire need," said Tanisha Pickey, Director of Social Services. "A week we see about 40-50 families that’s just rent utilities clothing, so the regular assistance we provide that’s around 40-50 families.”
The Salvation Army only accepts brand new products and donations can be mailed or dropped off at their office in Bryan.
“Everyone’s going through something right now we’ve talked to a lot of people that have lost their jobs or their hours have been cut so that definitely cuts a dent in being able to provide regular household items,” Pickney explained.
