BRYAN, Texas — A Bryan-based non-profit is working to keep residents warm ahead of the steady winter weather blowing into the Brazos Valley and Central Texas.
Temperatures have been dropping since Sunday and Brazos Valley Blessings, a local nonprofit, working to warm up residents. They are calling on residents to donate coats and heaters. While the coming days won't compare to 2021's Winter Storm Uri, BVB wants to prepare now.
Founder Amber Robertson explained how rallying the community up in this way, is how they build the Brazos.
"We help every single person we encounter. We typically just try to be on hand if we're needed, our client closet is open. We're just trying to stay proactive, we don't wanna be behind the eight ball here so if you have an extra heater that you wanna donate, extra coats. We'll get them to the school district or to families that reach out to us directly, "she said.
BVB plans to keep heaters stocked enough for the entire area in case of severe winter weather.
