NAVASOTA, Texas — Over the weekend and on Monday, Highway 30 at the Navasota River was closed due to flooding. Now the roadway is back open but with water levels still high, the City of Navasota is continuing to be cautious.
“We personally in the City of Navasota have not had a ton of effects so far," said Navasota's Public Information Officer, Taylor Hughes. "We have had a few road closures, but as of now, Highway 6 is not flooded so we’re just continuing to monitor what’s going on with the river and we’re talking to state and federal agencies to monitor what’s been happening with the continuing rising river.”
The City says they have only had a couple of cars drive into the water and have responded accordingly.
“FM 3090 is closed going in the county so that is affecting people being able to get inside Grimes County to the city of Navasota, but right now people are still able to get to town other ways but there is that one road closure,” explained Hughes.
The City wants people in and outside of the city to be mindful of updates.
