UPDATE: Air conditioning motor caused smoke problem at A&M Consolidated High School, said administrators

Firefighters gave the "all clear" about a half hour after responding to reports of smoke in a classroom.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — UPDATE:

College Station firefighters have given an "all clear" and students and staff have been allowed to come back into the building at A&M Consolidated High School.

The College Station Fire Department said a malfunctioning air conditioning unit caused smoke in the building, but there was no damage and no one was hurt.  In a letter sent home to parents, the school administrators said the students and staff were allowed to come back in the building and collect their things before being dismissed for the day.

College Station fire crews are responding to reports of a fire at A&M Consolidated High School.

The call for help came in around 3:10 p.m. after smoke was seen on the second floor.  The school staff issued an evacuation of the building.
