Elder Aid asking for support during their first year participating in Brazos Valley Gives Day

Elder Aid BCS is asking the community for their support as they participate in the annual Brazos Valley Gives Day on October 17

BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas — Elder Aid BCS is a local non-profit that has worked to improve the quality of life of low-income senior citizens. Their new involvement with Brazos Valley Gives Day is giving them an opportunity to reach as many residents as possible.

“Our mission is to ensure that the elderly within the Brazos Valley remain independent and in the community for as long as possible,” explained Elder Aid's Executive Director, Carol Jones.

In just this year, they have improved the lives of many local residents through their multiple programs.

Jones described, “We have spent $38,000 in client assistance and that would be the utility programs, medication, and things like that, and we have helped over 1174 clients as well as tenants.”

One tenet said her life completely changed when she found Elder Aid.

Mary Gibson, current tenet and volunteer described her experience, “I live in an Elder Aid house and I've got to tell you I love it. I feel safe, I don't have to worry about the roof falling in or the floor falling in or anything.”

Senior citizens want the community to know they are still here, and still valuable.

“A lot of people, if they would just stop and look at the elderly, and listen to them, we’re all gonna be there someday, and we can learn a lot from the elderly in all aspects of life,” Gibson said.
