BRYAN, Texas — The city of Bryan continues to grow with its Midtown Area Plan and the city staple, Carney’s, is one of many businesses receiving major upgrade.
Carney's Pub and Grill Owner, Barry Ivins said, “I kind of saw the big picture from the start and all the plans they had and just from that point to today and seeing it all come to fruition has been a really nice project.”
Back in 2020, South College Avenue was recognized as an area that needed improvement in the Midtown Area Plan.
Bryan's Development Administrator, Lauren Hovde explained the project, “The city is investing in the replacement of ageing infrastructure to support existing and future business coming to the area we’re hoping that more people will want to live work and enjoy this corridor as much as we do.”
The project includes five different districts, including Union Hill. The plan for this area is to increase pedestrian involvement by upgrading restaurant and entertainment spots like Carney’s to appeal to and fit more residents.
“We’ve been up 40% since before COVID so we’ve seen a lot of growth, and our customer count just keeps growing. Just more patio space we’ll be able to host more events we’re adding a 255-inch video wall as well as the bar next door just more space and more fun,” said Ivins.
The Guitar Studio next to Carneys will become a second bar, and renovations are expected to be completed by July.
