CALDWELL, Texas — In God's Hands Ministry has provided food items to families from all over Texas for more than 14 years. In that time, the leaders of the organization say the demand has increased to a level that has left them with few items remaining until the next drive.
“We’ve been serving anywhere from 150 to 180 families every time we’re open," said David Palicka, one of the leaders of the ministry group.
In God's Hands Ministry holds two drives every month of the year for families to drop by and pick up what they need to get by. Palicka added that, since the demand rose, they've received some additional help from grants and fundraising drives in the past year. The facility has added a 10x10 walk-in cooler, new signs and is starting to grow its own garden.
“Next thing we know, we checked and we have two watermelon patches growing," said Palicka.
However, with holidays such as Thanksgiving approaching, the ministry wanted to make the community aware of an annual event they put together. They host a Thanksgiving meal with a long list of food items for people to either stop by and eat with them or take a meal to go for their families.
“We said 'Hey, why don’t we do this every year for the entire community?' and this year will be our 14th year doing this," said Palicka.
In God's Hands plans to host the Thanksgiving meal again this year for families from all over. They say there are no requirements to receive a meal and encourage anyone who would like to come by.
The meal will be on Nov. 23, and if you'd like to donate money or nonperishable food items, you can contact Palicka at 979-900-9093 or mail the donations to In God's Hands Ministry, PO Box 231 in Caldwell.
