COLLEGE STATION, Texas — 13 students from the College Station Independent School District have been named to the 2023-2024 All-State ensembles after auditioning through the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) audition process.
The students began competing during the fall semester and went up against more than 70,000 students in the state of Texas. After auditioning and batting through several competition rounds they eventually earned the distinction of All-State honors. All-State honors is one of the highest distinctions a Texas music student can receive. Only 2.6% of students who went through the process earned the All-State honors distinction which is about 1,875 students out of the more than 70,000 that auditioned.
“This honor proves how talented and dedicated these students are to their craft as well as their commitment and work ethic,” Eric Eaks, director of fine arts, said. “Their upcoming All-State experience will be life-changing, and we are thrilled to be able to support them.”
The students have been invited to the TMEA Convention on Feb. 7-10 in San Antonio where they will work with world-class conductors to present All-State concerts. TMEA is the largest music education conference of its kind in the world.
