TEXAS, USA — Many Americans are counting down the days until holiday deals and discounts begin as inflation tightens many holiday budgets.
However, a recent survey done by TopCashBack a cashback rewards website, reported that 9 out of 10 haven't even begun their shopping.
As many brace for some items to come with a higher price tag this year, a consumer expert explained how budgeting accordingly will help you save. Items like clothes and electronics are two of the most anticipated items shoppers are waiting to see prices drop on.
Additionally, according to NerdWallet, debt is still following some holiday shoppers into this season, which is why more than half of the state says they won't be able to buy the gifts they'd typically get.
Samantha Landau is the consumer expert and public relations officer for TopCashBack. She said it's all about sites like getting creative with your budget this year. Sites like Cashback allows people to get cash back from some of their favorite retail stores, like Best Buy.
She says people typically tend to overlook the savings right in front of them when at the register.
"You're in the store or you're on the retailers website and they offer you some sort of discount for signing up, definitely take advantage of that," said Landau.
It's as simple as giving your email address and phone number when asked at the time of in-person transaction. She said this could be saving you hundreds of dollars on items like electronics, clothing, toys, and more.
"If you are already apart of a loyalty program that also includes some sort of rewards thing," said Landau. "Make sure you're taking a look at those things because those are extra savings in your wallet that you might not be realizing you have," she said.
It's free to sign up on TopCashBack. Members are allowed 100 percent commission that's earned from retailers, given back to them when they buy holiday items through the site.
May the odds be in your favor this holiday season without breaking the bank!
