COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Originally an immigrant from the Balkans, moving to Italy and later to the United States, Paul Kolaj said he is no stranger to hard work and overcoming obstacles.
Now, he’s opened a new pizzeria with an interesting twist in the Northgate District of College Station.
Kolaj, the owner of Dollar Slice Club, said that his company owns several locations around Texas and recently opened their College Station location on Tuesday.
The owner said his restaurant is different because customers can become members through a dollar eats app which will make them pay a five-dollar monthly fee. And in return, the customer will only get charged a dollar for each slice of pizza they order. Which he said could save them money over time.
When it came to finding the right fit for his staff, he said he wanted to help find work for Aggie students looking for job opportunities. Since the start of the hiring process, Kolaj said half of his staff are Aggies.
Now he's just hoping to open more doors for students and make the community aware of their new facility.
"It's our way to give back but at the end of the day we want to go into new communities and be part of it so that was really a win-win. It was a win-win and a true blessing. A lot of good guys and gals working here so we're excited," said Kolaj.
If you'd like to check out their facility they are located off of University Drive between the Starbucks and Dixie Chicken at Northgate.
