Nutcracker Christmas Market visits Post Oak Mall

Handmade scarves, wind chimes and even pickled peppers are just a few things shoppers will see over the weekend at the Post Oak Mall.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The holiday season is in full swing across the Brazos Valley, and from Dec. 13 through the 15, there’s a little spot in College Station with some Christmas magic in the form of art.

The Nutcracker Christmas Market has opened up a little pop-up shop with artisan products from all over Texas.

Handmade scarves, wind chimes and even pickled peppers are just a few things shoppers will see over the weekend.

One of the craftsmen you'll see though, is Steve Tyree, the owner of Timeless Pieces stainless steel wind chimes, mailbox covers and trays.

Steve has been making and selling his art for almost 30 years.

“It just gives me a lot of inspiration... it’s very unique and... I enjoy meeting the people face to face," he said.

“I sold a couple businesses, and I was doing this while I was doing that. So now this is full time work I travel the country actually.”

While he feels strongly about the accomplishment of making something from ones own two hands, there’s another piece he loves more.

“Getting back to the roots. Handmade. You know, a lot of things aren’t handmade anymore," Tyree said.

So if you visit the Nutcracker Christmas Market at Post Oak, Steve advises to, “not only see the artisans but even talk with them on how they do things.”

He feels that, “everyone has art in them. Its just making sure you bring it out within yourself.”
