COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Former Texas A&M football coach R.C. Slocum is the newest member of the College Football Playoff Committee.

Slocum is one of three new members of the committee, joining Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno and former Arkansas State athletic director Terry Mohajir.

Slocom coached the Aggies from 1989-2002 to an overall record of 123-47-2. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2012.

In his new role on the committee, Slocom must recuse himself during any discussions regarding Texas A&M.

The three new members replace former Southern Miss head coach Jeff Brewer, former Central Michigan head coach Herb Deromedi and former Vanderbilt head coach Bobby Johnson. Rob Mullens will stay on as the chair for the 2019 season.
