#9 Texas A&M baseball uses a 7-run seventh inning to take down South Carolina

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The No. 9 Texas A&M Aggies rode a seven-run seventh inning to an 8-2 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks Thursday evening at Founders Park.

Trailing 2-1 going into the seventh, the Aggies got RBI hits by Aaron Walters, Hunter Watson and Bryce Blaum to take a 4-2 lead and Logan Foster blew the game open with a grand slam into the bleachers in leftfield.

The Aggies registered 10 hits on the evening, including a pair of doubles and Foster’s home run. Zach DeLoach batted 2-for-4 with one double and two runs. Watson was 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Blaum hit 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI and Foster capped off the multi-hit performances, gong 2-for-5 with one run and four RBI.

John Doxakis (5-2) hit a rough patch in the third, but was stellar the remainder of the game, yielding two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out eight in 6.1 innings. Bryce Miller closed out the game with 2.1 scoreless frames, striking out four of the nine batters he faced.

The Aggies improved to 28-11-1 overall and 10-5-1 in the SEC. South Carolina fell to 22-16 overall and 4-12 in league play

SCORING SUMMARY
T2 | With one out, Zach DeLoach rattled a double down the third base line and moved to third when it was misplayed by leftfielder Brady Allen. Ty Coleman cued a 1-2 offering down the first base line to score DeLoach with the ice breaker. A&M 1, SC 0.

B3 | Chris Cullen punched a leadoff single to rightfield. The rally was on life support as Doxakis got the next two batters swinging, but a wild pitch put Cullen on second and he came around to score on a single by George Callil. Callil moved to second on the throw home and touched the plate on a single down the rightfield line by T.J. Hopkins. SC 2, A&M 1.

T7 | DeLoach roped a leadoff single to leftfield, moved to second on a sac bunt by Coleman and scored the tying run when Aaron Walters gapped a double to left-center. Allonte Wingate pinch-ran for Walters and scored the go-ahead run on Hunter Watson’s single to rightfield. After a wild pitch, Watson scored on a single to centerfield by Bryce Blaum. Braden Shewmake was intentionally walked and Mikey Hoehner was unintentionally walked to fill the bags with Ags. Logan Foster cleared the bases with a grand slam into the bleachers in leftfield, capping off a seven-run frame. A&M 8, SC 2.
