Mother's boyfriend indicted in Hazana Anderson case

Anderson's mother, Tiaundra Christon, has not yet been indicted as deadline looms

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas — Kenny Hewett, Hazana Anderson's mother's boyfriend, has been indicted by a Galveston County grand jury on charges related to the little girl's disappearance.

He faces an indictment of Tampering with Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair a Human Corpse. A trial date has not yet been set. Hewett is currently in the Galveston County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Anderson's mother, Tiaundra Christon, has not yet been indicted in the case. She faces similar charges from Galveston County in addition to charges of Child Endangerment and Filing a False Report from Brazos County.

Christon was arrested on October 29th, 2018 and has been in the Brazos County Jail for 82 days, as of Friday. She faces a combined $750,000 bond.

Prosecutors have 90 days to indict Christon, according to Texas law. Suspects who are not indicted after 90 days in jail must be "released on either personal bond or by reducing the amount of bail required."

A suspect's charges still remain even if released under Texas Law.

The Brazos County District Attorney's office declined to comment, citing an ongoing investigation.

Hewett was indicted on Friday, January 18th, which would have been Anderson's second birthday.
