Texas A&M running back Trayveon Williams was named the Southeastern Conference’s Back of the Year, the Birmingham Monday Morning Quarterback Club (MMQBC) announced at its annual banquet Monday night.

The MMQBC, who has been presenting the SEC Back and Lineman of the Year Awards consistently since 1949, is in its 80th year of existence and has a robust background in football and charitable acts. The club has raised funds for the Crippled Children’s Foundation, which has distributed almost $30 million to charities for children. Past award winners include Heisman Trophy winners Johnny Manziel, Bo Jackson, Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Herschel Walker, Derrick Henry and Steve Spurrier.

Williams tops the elite conference in rushing (1,524), all-purpose yards (1,802) and touchdowns (16). The junior has posted eight games with 100-or-more yards including two games with at least 200 yards. Williams became the fifth Aggie to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark twice in his career and his 1,524 rushing yards ranks third all-time in Texas A&M school history. He ended the regular season on a tear averaging 175.0 yards per game with 7 touchdowns in the final four games.
