A gas station clerk died late Sunday after being shot during an armed robbery attempt, according to College Station police.
The shooting took place at the Valero Corner Store at 2160 Rock Prairie Road around 8:30 p.m.
According to the College Station police, a witness described a male suspect who entered the convenience store and demanded money from the gas station clerk. When the clerk was unable to provide money, the suspect shot the clerk more than once, police said.
The shooter fled the gas station in a sedan, police said.
Police arrested the suspected shooter early Monday morning, according to a Facebook post.
The victim, identified by police as Anita Jean Randle, 54, died from her injuries around 12:45 a.m., according to College Station police.
