KAGS Pet of the Week: Billy is hoping for his success story

Billy is our KAGS Pet of the Week and he's available for adoption at Aggieland Humane Society.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas—A local animal shelter has been doing remarkable things for the community for over 30 years.

Aggieland Humane Society has been around since 1983 and opened their location on Leonard Road in Bryan seven years ago.

The non-profit animal shelter welcomes all kinds of animals, but mostly houses cats and dogs.

Aggieland Humane just finished a renovation to their dog kennels and they’re looking at expanding the play yard to make more room for the dogs to burn off all that positive energy.

The organization also recently unveiled their mobile spay and neuter clinic that travels around the area performing the procedures for low-income families.

With a 90 percent success rate of saving and re-homing animals, Aggieland Humane is making a difference in the Brazos Valley, meaning more happy endings for so many animals.

“When you see an animal come in who’s shy and sits in the back of the kennel, and a staff member loving on it day in and day out, and then whenever it gets adopted, we know that’s good for the pet and the human, too,” said Darby Kolle, Communications Specialist with Aggieland Humane Society.

“It’s just really nice to see such success stories,” she added.

And Billy, our KAGS Pet of the Week, is hoping for his own success story.

The two year-old Great Pyrenes/Australian Shepard mix is a bundle of energy.

Kolle said Billy got his name because he likes to jump on and over obstacles, just like a Billy goat.

Billy is waiting to find his forever home.

If you’re interested in adopting Billy or any of the animals from Aggieland Humane Society, they’re holding a special adoption event on Saturday at Sterling Subaru in Bryan.

During this event that runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., all adoption fees will be waived.

Plus, a local food truck will have tacos and the first 100 visitors get a free taco!

Sterling Subaru is located at 205 N. Earl Rudder Freeway in Bryan.
