College Station Police arrest juvenile for making terroristic threat on social media

Terroristic Threat is a Class "B" Misdemeanor punishable by confinement in jail for a term not to exceed 180 days and a fine not to exceed $2,000.

On Feb. 17 at 3 p.m., officers with the College Station Police Department received information regarding a possible terroristic threat.

Officers were advised of comments that were posted on social media involving a juvenile making reference to committing an act similar to the recent shooting that occurred at a school in Florida.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division were notified, and after further investigation, believed the juvenile made a credible threat with the intent of placing the public or a substantial group of the public in fear of serious bodily injury.

The juvenile was subsequently arrested for the offense of Terroristic Threat.

Terroristic Threat is a Class “B” Misdemeanor punishable by confinement in jail for a term not to exceed 180 days and a fine not to exceed $2,000.

There is currently no danger to the public. This case remains under investigation and additional charges are possible. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the College Station Police Department at 979-764-3600.
